Although I love to shoot different scenes and unique ideas. I am also very happy when couples request similar pictures to those on my website, I feel like they really left a lasting impression! Nely and Uge Engagement Photos

This session almost did not happen! We spent a good time sitting in the car waiting for the rain to stop. I actually told Nely that we should cancel and do it a different day because I did not think we would have enough time. But Uge insisted we wait since they live a few hours away and did not want to make the drive again. Well it was not a beautiful day but the rain stopped and we jumped out of the car and started shooting!! And as you can see we got some great pictures!! Good call Uge! Next time I am about to cancel a fishing trip due to weather I will call Uge just to check if I should. LOL Thanks guys!! I am so happy it worked out and you did not have to drive again!
I feel honored that the last couple sessions I posted are from people that have made long drives to shoot with me :) Thanks!! I really appreciate it!

I love engagement pictures! I had such a great time! Ivette and Ariel were awesome even with rain on one day and having them in the water on the next. They were always up to the challenge and lots of fun to be around. A really nice couple, I am sure their parents are really proud of both of them.

I have been getting a lot of calls for Engagement/Wedding pics, so it must be that time of year :)

I love doing Engagement pictures. The couples are always so happy! Even the guys get excited about taking the pictures, even though the girls always warn me that "their" man will not be easy. I guess it’s because I try to just get them to have some fun and relax!

Jeannie and Andrew were no different; Jeannie had seen Margy and Jesus’ Engagement pictures and wanted a similar shoot. She said she loved to pose, but was worried about Andrew...While Jeannie was a great model with gorgeous eyes and a flawless face, it was Andrew that was quite the surprise really giving it his all and being very patient and willing to go the extra mile for his girl! Great job guys I hope you love your pictures. I had a great time spending the day with you.

Anyone who knows me knows I love the outdoors. Especially anything that has to do with fishing, boating or the water. So you can imagine how excited I was when Mileidy informed me she wanted to take her Engagement pictures on her boat.

Nature Pictures

Here is a post for all the Nature lovers! I love keeping it diversified!

I figured what better post for the week after my Everglades adventure, where our boat capsized and the epirb sent the Coast Guard an emergency signal and everything!(If you do not have an epirb on the boat, get one!) It was not a lot of fun☹ My girl friend and family had a rough 2 1/2 – 3 hours. I also want to thank all of you for the prayers and well wishes. I only wish those 3 lost at sea Florida fisherman would have been so lucky. My prayers go out to them and their families. I will have to look at purchasing a flats boat now ;)

Meet Lissette, one of the nicest people you will ever meet. I have known her for many years and I can't begin to tell you how excited I was when she asked me to do her pregnancy pictures. Lissette lives in the middle of nowhere, in a beautiful home with her horses, goats, and a myriad of other animals. I had so many plans for her pregnancy pictures! Unfortunately it was freezing both times we scheduled and she wanted to do them in the studio. I was crushed ☹
But luckily she had a beautiful belly and it did not take long to get re-inspired. As it turns out we had a great time, her husband is just as nice and I look forward to seeing them both again soon.

muse or MUA

I guess I should start by explaining what a MUA is. A MUA is what people in the industry call a Make Up Artist.
Cara is working on becoming a full time make up artist and looking forward to working in the movie industry as a special effects artist. She is very talented and I am sure you will see some of her work on my website in weeks and months to come. Now.... you are probably wondering, why she is in the pictures if she is a makeup artist. Exactly! Well she did her own make up in the shoot… but if you know Cara, you know she will eventually talk you into anything!
Well, here are the pictures she talked me into; she said it would give girls a better idea about how much fun they can have on a shoot if they use the right props.
I am sure you will recognize some of the same images in Margy's shoot (which took place after Cara's) so maybe her theory is already working. Let me know what you think. If you would like to contact Cara about a MUA position please send me an email and I will make sure she gets it.

I am sure some of you that visit my blog every week will feel this post is very different from the usual postings. When I was approached to do these pictures, I felt a little reserved about doing them. I was not sure if they fit my style or vision. But being that a friend had asked me to try it, I figured it would just add to my range. I’ve always thought a good photographer can capture anything.

I got to email Margy back and forth for a while before finally getting her into the studio. So by the time she made it in, I felt like I knew her. Jesus, Her boyfriend (sorry guys) and her were really nice and a pleasure to be around. Even though she was a little under the weather she was a total trooper, even after the "no see ums"(think tiny mosquitoes on steroids) showed up for our train shoot. Thanks Margy! My resolution for 2009 is to take a moment every day to be grateful for all that I have — my faith, my health, my family, my friends, my photography, and a home where I feel happy at. To all my photography fans, I hope the New Year brings happiness and good health to you and your families.

Puerto Vallarta Fishing

Well, I am back! As some of you know I have been on vacation for the last 3 weeks ☺
I had a great time! I was actually only taking two weeks off, but the job I was doing in Mexico was postponed and we decided to go anyways and do some fishing.
The first week was spent in Puerto Vallarta with Sergio Vasquez from Expert Marine Electronics located in California and Billy Webb from The Billy Webb Band also from California. These are genuinely nice guys and I highly recommend you giving them your business if you need their services. The following pictures are from this trip. I was not able to take the usual scenic pictures from places that I visit, due to the fact that we came in late the first day and then proceeded to leave the dock before sunrise and returned after sunset for the whole time that we were there.
I also went on a cruise on the Independence of the Seas with my Mom, Dad, gf Christina, and 16 other family and friends. We all missed my sister who decided she could not take the time off from work☹ I think I gained like 5 pounds! but I quickly shed it in the third week when I went fishing to the Everglades with my good friend Ralph and all we ate were Military MREs (Meals Ready to Eat), LOL. We did catch 35+ Snook, some Redfish, Blue fish, Snappers, and Ralph must have caught every jack in the bay (weird he usually catches all the grunts)☺
Now I will try to catch up, I am sure I will need another vacation soon! ☺

Galapago Pictures

Over the last couple of years, many people have asked me how I became a photographer. Well, here is the story. As many of you know I have always loved photography and taken many courses over the years. Yet it was always a hobby or something that I did for fun.
It started when I went on a vacation to the Galapagos. There, I met a couple of professional photographers and thought they had the best job in the world! Getting paid to take pictures of such beauty, unbelievable!
I asked plenty of questions, but really had little knowledge of their fancy equipment. At the time I was using a Sony 717,a very basic digital camera compared to the professional cameras the pros were using. Little did I know that camera would help shape my future! I had taken my laptop and would download the pictures that I had taken during the day. Sometimes people would walk by and admire them, and give me compliments. On about the third or fourth day, the cruise director came by to see me and told me that several passengers had commented that my pictures where just as good as the pros and I should also get to display them on the big screen. He asked me to see them, and then asked me to prepare a slide show for the next day! I was shocked, excited, nervous and a bit confused. LOL But I figured this would be a cool experience and at the very least get to hang out with the pro photographers and learn something.
Well I ended up creating a slide show for each day, for the rest of the trip and got so many compliments that I started to believe that becoming a pro was possible. Nevertheless, I still had a desk job and went back to it the following Monday. But I sure thought about photography a lot. Then about two years later I decided that it was time to make it my day job and Seaside Studios and Omar Guillen Photography were born. I could not be happier! Here are some of the images from that trip.

I had never met Nely before the session, which is not that uncommon. But I could tell she was very nervous when she walked in. So we took it slow.... You could only imagine how funny it was when she blurted out "I need a drink". :) So we made her one, and after about 15 min. she was the perfect model. LOL
We had lots of fun. She is sweet and has a great sense of humor. I hope I get to shoot her again!

Venezuelan Super Slam

I had been waiting to fish Venezuela for quite some time, so I was excited when I got the email to go shoot the VENEZUELAN INTERNATIONAL SUPER SLAM. Rick Alvarez, the tournament director, was very friendly and laid back and made the event fun and relaxed. Although the fishing was slow by Venezuelan standards, the excitement was undeniable, especially when you were only one fish away from a slam. I can’t wait to go back to fish again! I also want to thank the captains and owners of the boats I observed on: Palagar, Peje, and Hatterascal. They were very accommodating and a pleasure to fish with.

Little Angels Day Care

Meet the “Little Angels” for 2008! After I met with the principal, Jessica Alonso, I knew it was going to be a fun shoot. She was excited to try new ideas for their school pictures. So we decided to shoot each child as if he or she was having his or her own portrait session. It did take a lot longer, but I am sure the parents will appreciate the new look. I was a little worried at first, shooting five girls together where all the girls were the main focus. But I had a great time! Judy's house was beautiful and the people even more so. We had pizza, ice cream and a bunch of laughs. I really enjoyed myself. Thanks girls!

Boxer Puppy Pictures

These may look like Boxer puppy pictures, but I have been informed that this is my new nephew!
My sister has been married for longer than five years. We have all been waiting for the announcement that there will be a new addition to the family (especially my mom). But little did we know that the new addition would be a puppy! At first it seemed more of a joke, and I even refused to take pictures of this so called new addition to our family. As time went on and Rocky grew older my sister got bitterer, that we were not taking her new baby more serious. I could not believe her! But after several arguments I finally conceded and agreed to take the following pictures. I must admit it was quite entertaining to watch her care for this little animal. She really does treat him like her own child. And yes I did warm up a little to the little guy. But I am worried for my mom, I hope this is just training for the soon to be baby and not a replacement. But just in case I did play catch with him…. Or was it fetch. LOL Enjoy the pictures.

Little David Beckham

Richie really does remind me of David Beckham. Not because of his soccer ability (I have never really seen him play in a real game) but because of his character and charisma. You can spend a short amount of time with him and get a sense that he is special, call it that “x factor”. Maybe he will be an actor or a model or maybe, just maybe the next David Beckham.

If I would not have seen Anabel’s belly, I would have never known she was pregnant. Anabel acted more like she was at a sporting event than a maternity shoot. She didn’t take bathroom breaks, didn’t get thirsty, didn’t even let Freddy (her husband) or myself carry her bags! We took some studio shots and some outdoors and we had an awesome time with both of them. Jade Yoga, Nature's Best Yoga Mats, has been shooting a series of ads around the world of yoga teachers in their everyday lives carrying their mats in iconic settings. The ads appear in Magazines, Internet, and various other media outlets.

Kino MacGregor was selected as the model by Jade Industries to represent South Beach in Miami. Kino is the founder of Miami Life Center (MLC), an urban retreat space dedicated to the study of yoga, holistic health and consciousness. Kino was absolutely delightful. Not only is she known as one of the top yoga instructors, she’s a fun and loving, down to earth person with a welcoming smile and wholesome demeanor. I had a great time taking pictures of her, and I hope to do many more projects with this special person.

House of Jackie Brown is a new swimwear label conceived by two New Yorkers, Jaclyn York and Emily Brown (shown in last pic of post). Their debut collection, “Caliente” was inspired by Miami and their love of fashion, beauty and the beach! There are currently eight styles in the “Caliente” Summer ‘08 line.

Underwater Maternity Pictures

Since the first time I spoke to Ruth about her maternity picture shoot, she was extremely excited. She was especially excited about the idea of shooting underwater maternity pictures.

The day of the shoot, I was a little worried. The weather was rainy and overcast. I wasn’t sure how I was going to make this work, but I knew I had to.

Below are the pictures, yes it rained and the sun never came out for longer than 10 minutes. But I love the end results. Ruth and Nelson were also as nice as can be, they even had their good friend make us a late lunch. And the lunch was superb!

Muscular Dystrophy Association's Annual Lock Up

I was asked to take a couple of pictures for a Muscular Dystrophy Association charity event. Besides it being a good cause, my aunt was involved so I really had no choice.

Well, not only did I get my picture in this newspaper and website, I ended booking several jobs from this picture. I guess it really does pay to do nice things.

I am pretty excited, I have never submitted pictures for consideration to a magazine and I just got my first cover! I love it! I have had my pictures in magazines before, even full pages(paid advertisements)but there is something special about getting the cover!

I got back from covering the WCBRT a Marlin tournament in Cabo posted the pictures on the blog and got some great feed back. Several of my friends posted my pictures on forums and before long the editor for Marlin World, Paul Watson contacted me about his online magazine. It really is a great publication! I am currently talking to a couple more people in the industry so hopefully you will be seeing a lot more of my images in the future!

Cabo San Lucas Mexico Fishing Pictures

Wow what an amazing place! I went to Cabo, Mexico for the WCBRT, a Marlin fishing tournament. I had always heard of the crazy numbers of striped marlin in Cabo but was somewhat Skeptical. Well... No more! There really are crazy numbers of fish here, not to mention I got to enjoy a 60 foot Viking for two days. The "Bad Company" Edition Viking was incredible to say the least.

Elly was sooo cute! Although I was warned about her temper, I thought she was so sweet and well behaved, well.... up until the family portrait. As you can see in the last picture, Elly did not cooperate. I still love the picture, actually I think I like it so much better because it fit the family so well. Casa De Campo Marlin Masters Invitational 2008

Beautiful boats, nice weather, and a great time, is how I would describe the Marlin Masters. The old man and the sea also come to mind. I could not believe what I witnessed, roughly a 19 foot panga catching two Marlin on hand lines!!!! Don't believe me? see for yourself(sixth picture down). The little panga followed the marlin around as the man fought it on a hand line. After several minutes and some spectacular jumps, the two guys gafted the Marlin and then proceded to beat it with a club. Afterwards they managed to get it aboard, as we watched in amazement from a 3 million dollar plus yacht. I guess you really don't need anything fancy to catch fish. Come to think of it.... We did'nt catch anything that day, even though we trolled around the same FAD(Fish Attracting Device)all morning.

Always On My Mind

Well I know I have to update my Blog more frequently. I actually love doing it, but between taking pictures and editing pictures, working on the new website, being out of town, and as my close friends know WORKING ON REMODELING THE UPSTAIRS it has been a little daunting. But I promise to catch up and post as much as I can. A couple of people have asked me about specific posts, so I will try to start with those to keep them happy.

This book was finished a little before Valentine’s Day and was meant as a birthday present for Jessica's long time boyfriend. I have always thought a dedicated book was a great present for a special occasion, but when Jessica handed us a poem to go with the book, I thought wow she has really given this a lot of thought. Can there be a better present than this? Her boyfriend thought the same thing. He said this was the best present he had ever received! And as you can see from the pictures, he is one lucky guy! Not only is she thoughtful and creative, she is beautiful! I can’t wait to do their Engagement pictures ;)

This couple came in all the way from Indiana with a dozen of their closet friends and family to experience a Florida Keys wedding. It seems like these destination weddings are becoming more and more popular. Maybe one day the Florida Keys will be as famous for weddings as Las Vegas! Well I am glad this couple made the trip they were a delight to shoot. I hope they love the pictures.

I just did a party shoot for Deep Impact. It was hosted by Natalie Mikolich, the Director of Public relations for Deep Impact. The party was a great introduction for the beautiful boat. Ok. I must admit these are my favorite shoots. I had creative control, a Beautiful model, and I was on the Bottom Seeker! Leslie could not have been a better model, very professional, very attentive, and never complained. Let me tell you it was not an easy shoot. There was so many no see ums (for those of you that don't know what those are, imagine a small mosquito on steroids that you can't see), and as you can tell by Leslies' face while we were shooting she was always in character. Motor Boating

Well today I got to do a really cool shoot. Motor Boating magazine was doing an article on small boats with satelite t.v. Well, I did'nt have to go far. As many of you know my boat, "Bottom Seeker" has satelite t.v not to mention a large display in the cockpit. I can't wait to see which pictures they will use. Needless to say, I sent them quite a bit of choices. I love my Boat!

Katelyn's 1st Kids Portrait Session

Katelyn's family contacted me for a unique request they wanted a Childrens Portrait Session along with a couple of pictures of her friends celebrating her first birthday. Although the party was small, the kids had a great time! I am sure the pool and great weather had a little to do with it.
